THE STITCH FIX EXPERIENCE

i found out about stitch fix a few months ago through my best friend and finally decided to give it a try! before i tell you more about that, you may be wondering what stitch fix is and how it works. let me fill you in!

WHAT IS STITCH FIX AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
simply put, stitch fix is an online personal styling service for women. you will set up a stitch fix account, fill out a style profile (this includes questions about your style, sizes, and favorite things to wear), and submit! it is honestly as easy as that. you are assigned to a personal stylist who will go through your style profile and put together a package of 5 handpicked items.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
there is a $20 styling fee up front, which you pay once you have scheduled your first fix.  this will go toward your final fix total once you decide what you want to keep.  when filling out your style profile, you will have the option to choose what kind of price range you are willing to pay. stitch fix will send you clothing within your price range, but they say that the overall average of each piece is $65. here's the fun news! if you decide to keep all 5 items, you will receive 25% off your entire order.

WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU DON'T LIKE YOUR FIX?
here's where my stitch fix experience comes into play. i received my very first fix last week and was so excited to open the box and try everything on.  i liked the color of the blouses and the dress they sent, but i didn't like the fit of the dress or one of the shirts. they sent me two pairs of jeans...a dark wash and a black wash. one did not fit, but the other did. however, i'd just recently bought a pair of black jeans, so i didn't need a new pair at this time.

so i didn't like enough out of this fix to keep it all, and i didn't want to pay full price for the couple of items i only sort of liked. no worries! stitch fix provides you with a bag with pre-paid postage to send back the clothes you don't want. i just had to drop it off at the post office and send it on its way back home.

although this fix didn't work out, i absolutely loved having someone else pick out clothes for me and ship them to my house! whether you keep your fix or send it back, you have the opportunity to give stitch fix feedback about each item. if you didn't love the items, give them very detailed feedback about what you didn't like, and be very detailed about what you would like to see in your next fix! the stylists want to know these things because it helps them do their job well! i will definitely be ordering my next fix soon!

HAVE YOU EVER USED STITCH FIX?

I've heard good things about stitch fix and I love getting things in the mail :) so I've been thinking of looking into it sometime soon!

I've used stitchfix before too. I had a similar experience to you, a few of the items I received were things I had JUST bought so I couldn't justify it. I wish I had liked everything so I could get that discount, but maybe next time :)

I've heard wonderful things about stitch fix! I'm glad you were able to send things back you didn't love. That's a good company to be so flexible!

i've also heard a lot of great things before about stichfix - but unfortunantly they don't carry my sizes yet....so maybe one day ;) haha

Oooo so fun for you! I would love to use this service, but it makes me so nervous! Also, honestly, their clothes seem a litttttttle out of my price range. I'm so used to going to vintage thrift stores for fun pieces. Oh well. Can't wait to see what fun stuff you get!

Beautiful photos! I have heard tons about stitch fix....and may think about trying it someday- but honestly- the prices seem a bit steep for things for me!

i guess the fit is definitely the hardest part. i do want to try it out at one point. a friend of mine told me it took her about 3 tries for them to get it just the way she liked it.

yes it is! my best friend has kept both of her fixes she's received so far. so it's different for everybody. the great thing is that you can send it back and not owe anything. so you can try a few time until they find exactly what you like!

it is a little pricey, i agree, it would definitely be a little bit of a splurge. however, i tend to by nicer clothes (i always buy on sale, though!) but i do that because they last forever. i still have lots of clothes from college that i still wear and are still in great condition because i paid more for them up front! and that was 8 years ago! :)

you should try it out! there's no risk moneywise since you get to send everything back at no cost to you if you decide you don't like it! i did forget to mention that there is a referral system. for every friend you refer who participates in stitch fix, you get a $25 credit. so get a few credits and you can basically cover the cost of a whole fix!

well that is just unacceptable, stitch fix!! one day :)

Megan McIlvaine said...

i know! that's something that i really appreciated about them. there was no risk involved :)

Megan McIlvaine said...

i know! i was sad, but i'm hoping for a better fix for me next time!

Megan McIlvaine said...

you should, girl! just to try it out...there's no risk in it! you can send it all back free of charge if you don't like it :)

esther julee said...

oh really? i thought you always end up losing the 20$ styling fee and the shipping. if not, i would totally do it now!

Megan McIlvaine said...

let me check that to verify! i know shipping is free both ways, but i'll check on the $20 styling fee!

I have been wanting to try this, but I haven't quite decided. I may just have to try it! It's too bad this month's fix didn't work out for you, but hopefully the next one will! Can't wait to see what you get!

I love that you did stitch fix! I've been thinking about doing it, but it's not in our budget right now. I think I also really enjoy being able to pick out really different pieces when I shop and I for the most part I usually always now what I'm looking for. Although I still want to try it sometime because It think it would be really fun!

Megan McIlvaine said...

i know! i don't mind shopping for myself because i know i'll buy exactly what i like, but it's sort of fun having someone else do it for you! i think it's definitely worth giving it a shot! :)

Megan McIlvaine said...

you should!! i was really intimidated by it at first, but i promise it's not actually scary. haha. and i'm hoping the next one works out too! :)

No, i never but for $20 maybe I would. It's nice to get ideas from the professional.

yes ma'am it is!

You don't lose the styling fee 😍😍 ! It rolls over to your next box. You only spend it when you buy something (the 20 bucks just subtracts)
