Hello friends! Today I'm back with another Disney installment as I share my favorite rides, restaurants, sites, and shows from our trip. During our recent Disney World extravaganza, we spent the majority of our first day in Animal Kingdom. Between waiting in lines, going to shows, and riding our favorites, we didn't actually DO a lot in that park, but we did the things we really enjoyed. One of the things I especially loved about Animal Kingdom is that you truly feel like you've time traveled to whatever country you are visiting. Disney does such a great job at transforming a space and creating an atmosphere that makes you forget where you are and draws you into the story.
1 | EXPEDITION EVEREST
Take an exciting ride through the Himalayan mountains, but keep an eye out for the Abominable Snowman! AKA the Yeti. Even if you have to stand in line for a bit for this ride, they make it worth your wait. I love how Disney transforms the line into a journey through another world or time, and according to someone we overheard "waiting is half the fun!" Too true, Disney traveler. Too true.
2 | FINDING NEMO - THE MUSICAL
I've already established multiple times that I love musicals and you're probably sick of hearing about it. Sorry I'm not sorry. The Finding Nemo musical was so fun and a must see for the young and the young at heart. You'll want to sing and dance along as the characters sing and swim in and out of the audience.
3 | FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING
Oh. My. Goodness. You must, MUST go see this show. The costumes are wonderful, the acrobatic monkeys are incredibly entertaining, and the music will sweep you away to the Pride Lands. I'm not lying when I say I teared up a couple of times during the performance. It was so fun and beautiful!
This ride is the bomb. If you've ever been to Disneyland, it's the equivalent of the Indiana Jones ride. We went on the Dino ride three times because we loved it so much. The first time, I had my hands covering my eyes the entire ride...that made for a great photo at the end. ;) Dinosaurs jumping out of everywhere scaring me! One of my favorite parts about the ride is the video from the 90s that they play before you even get ON the ride. Ha!
5 | KILIMANJARO SAFARIS
Who doesn't love safaris? You get to take a ride through the African savanna, exploring the various habitats, and hanging out with your favorite African animals. Lions and giraffes and elephants, oh my! You truly feel like you have been transported to that part of the world. I kind of forgot we were at Disney World for a little bit! Hop on board and enjoy the adventure!
HAVE YOU BEEN TO ANIMAL KINGDOM? WHAT RIDES AND SHOWS ARE ON YOUR LIST?
CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF DISNEY? CHECK OUT MY OTHER PARK RECAPS!
So Big Bro asked if we could go to Disney for his birthday this year... we'll have to see about that!
I LOVE the Nemo musical. It is legitimately like a Broadway musical. My friend used to play Squirt!
Agree with all of these!! When we were in high school, our little brother pulled his sweatshirt over his head at the end of the dino ride and it looked like the T-rex bit his head off in the picture...it was so hilarious!
i WANT to go on a safari!
and the nemo musical...just stop, that is awesome!
YES! YES! YES!
YAY! Disney forever!
No shame in tearing up during the Festival of the Lion King. Same here!
This is great! Your reviews of these 5 things make me want to hear more about what you have to say about…well everything lol
This looks like so much fun! I would go just for the Finding Nemo musical :)
Video from the 90's? Oh you mean my smokin hot future husband? Still laughing about this. "And we're in!" haha PS, the Nemo show- AMAZING.
I love animal kingdom! You said it perfectly about Disney taking you to another world! Those couple of shows I've never watched and will have to make sure to next time! I would add the "It's a Bugs Life" experience... Is that even still there? It's been a few years since I've visited! It's quite hilarious.
Festival of the Lion King! What!? I want to go to there!
SO jealous! I want to go to the Disney World and to the animal kingdom! I'm a Disneyland annual passholder here and I can never get enough of Disneyland. One day I will make out there and see all the things that you had mentioned here!
Disney excels at spectacle. It's one of their gifts and what makes everything feel like magic. :) If you loved the Festival of the Lion King you should try and catch the musical of The Lion King either in New York or if it tours nearby. It's an amazing show!
Yesss.. All great, so true.
:) I want to go back ASAP.
Oh that is so fun! I love Disneyland...it is so classic. I went for the first time ever last spring while I was out visiting my brother and sister-in-law!
You would have loved it!! Acrobatic monkeys, flying/dancing birds singing "can you feel the love"...I teared up a little.
I THINK Bug's Life is still there, but we didn't have time to stop by. Hopefully it is still there next time I go!
Haha! Thanks lady!
Glad I'm not alone. It was so beautiful!
Yes!! I feel like they do such an incredible job with all of their shows. So fun your friend was Squirt!
Missing it like crazy. Let's go back.
Come with us next time! ;)
Hahaha yes, laura, your hubs.
The wonk eye = Nemo show highlight.
Oh my gosh, the musical in on my bucket list. One day I will see it!
AHH! Yes. Do it! And take me with you ;)
