MAY GOALS

Hello, friends! Life has been a bit crazy since moving to Colorado and I will tell you all about it sometime soon, but I didn't want to miss out on sharing my monthly goals. :) They are small goals, but I've realized in moving across the country that you have to take things one step at a time when settling into a new city. Slow and steady wins the race, right? Let's take a quick look at last month's goals!

APRIL REVIEW

1 | Purge/clean out the closet - Well, I had put this on my list for April because I thought I might be moving and wanted to get a head start on the purging game. It felt good to get rid of so many things (how I still have so much, I don't know) but it was a weight lifted to toss a lot of my belongings.

2 | Complete four more chapters in Blog Life - Nope! Not even close. Too much packing and saying goodbye to friends.

3 | Participate in each challenge of The Lens Revolution - Again, too much packing... Elah Tree's new photography series is AMAZING and you should participate. I told her one of these days I will catch up and practice the things she has been teaching.

MAY GOALS

1 | Start visiting churches - One of the things that was on the top of my list in moving to Colorado was finding a new church once I got here. Of course, I know that doesn't mean finding one right away, but I want to be proactive about visiting, meeting people, and deciding where I feel the Lord wants me to be involved.

2 | Meet people - Community is so important, and even though I do have many friends here, I still need to branch out and meet other people that could be a part of my community in Colorado. Sometimes I simply want to go home and go to bed after work because this move has wiped me out emotionally and physically, but I know that I need to spend time intentionally getting to know new friends!

That's it for this month. Just two goals, but both time intensive, and goals that require my full attention. Little by little I'll settle in and a routine will be created, but I have to remind myself not to rush that. I'm trying to slowly figure out life here without becoming completely overwhelmed. Anyone out there know what I'm saying? :)

Hey girl! I've been away from the blog world a lot lately and totally missed that you were moving to Colorado, good for you!! Praying the transition goes well and you are able to get plugged in to a great community!

I am sure you will find the perfect Church for you and some great firendships to go along with!

I made a big move almost two years ago and it has been quite the ride. Nothing teaches you more about yourself than to completely remove yourself from everything you've ever known! I'd say that making friends has been the most difficult part of being out here, but I think we did that to ourselves, knowing our time was temporary and subconsciously shielding ourselves from the heartbreak of leaving people behind. Don't let yourself do that! Find a church and make friends there! It will be the best thing you can do!

I think these two goals are so important and so great for you! I will be praying that you have the energy to invest in both and feel encouraged as you make efforts. :)

:) Man, getting organized after a move... I'm really trying to get back on top of blog things!

Thanks Cassie! I'm praying for that!

Thanks so much, Amy. It is beautiful here. :)

Chantel, thanks so much for your prayers. I need them!

Meg McIlvaine said...

I hope so! I know the Lord will put me where he wants me.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Thanks so much for that encouragement, Emily! I can definitely tend to shield myself from new relationships for the very reason you mentioned, but the thing is I don't know how long Jesus will keep me here and I know I need friends and community while I am here. Branching out and finding both of those things can be scary though! :)

Stacia! Thank you :) When do you guys move??

When I was in Colorado Springs, I visited my friend's church... I can't remember what's its called, but they have a HUGE location as well as a downtown branch at a school... I can't remember what it's called, but if you'd like I can find out the name for you! I hope you are enjoying your new city :)
