The meadow is my favorite part of the drive to and from Eagle Lake Camp. It is the breath of fresh air as you leave camp on your days off, and it is the calm before the chaos as you head back up the mountain to face another exhausting but incredible week with your campers. Sometimes, when you felt the need, you'd pull over on your way back up the mountain, hop the fence, and run wild and free out into the field. Making time to take in the beauty.
Beth and I were both blessed with wonderful counselors when we were campers at Eagle Lake. The kind of counselor you have can really impact your experience and view of camp and I am so thankful for the beautiful women who poured into me during my camper years. They were the ones that made me want to go back as a counselor so I could pour into high schoolers like they did for me. Mer was one of mine and Beth's campers the year I went back on staff with Eagle Lake and Mer ended up going back as a counselor for the following two summers. It is such an encouraging thing to see Jesus work in previous campers' hearts and bring them back on staff as counselors. It's beautiful to see that web of discipleship being woven, and it was so fun being back in that place together for a day.
Did I mention it is windy in the meadow? Just a smidge...
I think we all have a meadow in our lives. That one place where our hearts are wild and free and we are at peace.
WHERE IS THAT PLACE FOR YOU?
I always love your Colorado posts because they remind me of the time when I got to live in that wonderful state. I don't have that one place but whenever I am surrounded by nothing but nature (meaning I don't see one building anywhere) then I feel wild and free :)
LOVING the wind blown looks!
this was one of my favorite places too Megan! my favorite place was a rock by the staff housing at camp; there was a clear view of Pikes Peak from there!
I love the meadow. and these sweet pictures! I am so thankful for our friendship!!!!
Me too, lady! Me too. These pictures are so full of joy!
Oh fun!! I never discovered that rock ;) I do love Pikes Peak though!
:) Thanks!
Thanks Allison!!
It's our model look. Since this post went live, we've been contacted by too many agencies to count. ;) For real though, I kept accidentally eating my hair. Ha!
Awww so fun! Amen to being surrounded by nature! It is the best place to be. :)
Thanks girl! So sweet...camp memories are the best!
Both are great places!! :)
my thought process as I scroll through this:
1 - oh pretty.
2 - I want to roll in the grass.
3 - then I might itch
4 - I still want to roll in the grass
5 - oooo what a great backdrop for pictures
6 - I'm glad they took pictures
7 - windy hair
8 - that grass still needs to be rolled in
9 - dang that would hurt if you fell on that road
10 - and this is why I'm weird. ;)
This is the greatest conversation with one's self of all times. Hahahah! :)
I try to keep myself entertained ;)
And the rest of the world ;)
The meadow does look so beautiful and relaxing. I want to go out there with a blanket and a good book!
and wind!
Oak + Oats
It's so gorgeous, I love the mountains in the background!
Yes! Take a sweater...it's a little chilly. :)
Me too!! It is just so breathtaking!
Such fun pictures! And that meadow is idyllic. My "meadow" is the Smoky Mountains and of course when I'm climbing a rock. :)
What a beautiful meadow! And I love your new blog design!
Gorgeous
I love photo heavy posts like this. So full of joy! I think the summer camp that I went to as a junior high/high school is that place for me. There's a main road that runs through the middle of the camp, and even just driving through makes me happy.
