CHACOS FOR LIFE.

If you've been around this space for a while, you know that I am a huge fan of Chacos and wear them on a daily basis and with basically everything. My love for all things Chacos began when I received my first pair on my fourteenth birthday. I've worn those babies for the past twelve years, and they have served me well during all of my summers working at camp, countless hiking and swimming excursions, and the every day wear and tear. After so many years of adventures together, my favorite shoes have started to wear out, and I knew it was finally time to take Elsa's advice and let it go.

I get really attached to things, so giving up my well-loved but falling-to-pieces pair of Chacos for a new and improved pair, was a big deal for me. It's like parting ways with an old friend, even though you both know it's for the best. Too dramatic? Sorry.

This pattern caught my eye because it is so colorful and oh so pretty! If you're in the market for a new pair of the best sandals you'll ever purchase, I highly suggest going the route of the toe strap. It helps to keep my feet from sliding forward when I'm hiking, and contrary to popular belief, it does not pinch your toes.

There are two types of soles to choose from: Unaweep and Yampa

I prefer the Yampa sole because it is lighter weight with a low profile tread, whereas the Unaweep is much heavier and creates more of a full performance shoe. The Unaweep is definitely the more hardcore of the two options. I do actually have a pair of Chacos with the Unaweep sole, and they served me well during the summer I worked in the mountains of Colorado. I don't wear them as often for the every day simply because of the weight and clunkiness of the sole.

I love everything about these shoes, but my absolute favorite feature is the LUVseat footbed and its amazing arch support. I have a pretty high arch in my feet and these shoes are just as supportive and comfortable to me as a good pair of hiking boots.

When I broke my foot last year, I wasn't allowed to walk for a couple of months, but when I finally could walk again, I had to wear shoes with excellent arch support. This is where my Chacos really came in handy. They were the only shoes that didn't make my foot hurt with every step. I owe them big time! I am a Chacos fan for life.

Love my Chacos. Mine have pink paint splattered all over them, that I can't for the life of me remember where it came from. hmmm...

You know, I have noticed these shoes floating around, but never actually looked into them before! I tore almost all ligaments in my ankle 2 years ago, and now have to wear supportive shoes. I assumed these type of shoes were out of the question, but, as you said, they have great arch support! I may put these on my Christmas list! Thanks!

My chacos serve me SO well here in Alaska!
Even though I have gotten some really funny tan lines from them this summer- it's worth it!
I love my pair!
And I couldn't agree more about the toe strap! Also- I have the two strap kind like these and I LOVE them!

I love the two straps too!

I love my chacos! I haven't owned my pair for that long yet but I pretty much haven't taken them of all summer long. They are just so so comfortable and look with pretty much every outfit I own :)

I want Chaco's so bad! My husband isn't a huge fan of them though :( And since he's not it's hard to justify buying them. I think they'd be perfect for outdoorsy things, but I'm not a huge outdoorsy person so there's that issue too. But nonetheless they are so perfect and cute on you!

These look awesome! I'd love to do more hiking in the future and might have to look into these!

Meg McIlvaine said...

You totally should! They are the best.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Haha! Yeah. They are definitely perfect for outdoorsy things, and you would totally get your money's worth out of them! They last forever!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Yes!! Seriously, I wear them with everything. I'd wear them to work if I were allowed to!

Barefoot is a great way to go too! It's usually barefoot or Chacos for me. :)

i LOVE my chacos. I live in mine. even in the winter I put my toe strap down and wear wool socks with them :) definitely the best arch support sandal out there.

That is such a great idea! I hadn't even thought about putting the toe strap down!

That's a good idea! I'll have to research them a bunch and pick out my favorites!
