5 THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME | VOL. 2

Hi friends! I wish we could all meet for coffee dates on the reg and get to know each other better. Since we can't, I thought I'd share a few more random tidbits about little old me. Facts that might come up at some point in conversation during the course of our friendship...

1 | I was on a mock trial team.
During my sophomore year of high school, I joined a mock trial team, and it was awesome. Our case was regarding a soccer game accident...broken jaw by deliberate elbow jab to the face. Dun dun dun! I played the part of the plaintiff's best friend and fellow soccer player. I think my name was Ray. Ha!

2 | I've always loved sports.
I played soccer for a couple of years when I was younger, but I was never super awesome at it. Then I played basketball for the YMCA in middle school...I was the only girl in my league. It was great. I started swimming competitively when I was seven and swam all the way through high school. In college, I switched over to ultimate frisbee, which I played a handful of times each week. I absolutely loved it, but broke a few bones over the course of my frisbee career. The sports years were eventful, for sure.

3 | I was home schooled.
People tend to find this fact way more interesting than I do. Haha. I went to public school for kindergarten and then was home schooled through the end of high school. My brother and I were super involved in co-ops and extracurricular programs and sports. We both dual-enrolled at our local community college during high school, which allowed us to gain high school and college credit at the same time! Score. Also, a perk of being home schooled: you get to go on vacation whenever the heck you want. Woohoo!

4 | I worked at Chick-Fil-A in high school.
Honestly, Chick-Fil-A is a great work environment for high school kids. I made great friends, learned a lot about customer service, and ate my weight x100 in waffle fries and polynesian sauce.

5 | I've had a few awkward dates.
This is one of my friends' favorite things about me...my awkward stories. Apparently my life should be a sitcom. So this one time, I went on a date where I apparently got lettuce stuck in my teeth. BUT the guy didn't tell me! Can you believe it? So there I am, for who knows how long, with like half a salad hanging out in my mouth. I didn't even know about it until I got back to my car and caught a glimpse in the mirror. How long has that been there?? #mortified JK. I laughed so hard about it. For reals, though. If someone has something stuck in their pearly whites, tell them immediately. ;)

WHAT'S ONE RANDOM FACT ABOUT YOU?

Such a cute little collection of facts! Fun fact about me: I grew up on a horse farm, before heading into the big scary life of fashion design in NYC.

I love this post for so many reasons! I was home schooled as well and everyone finds it shocking for some reason??!! I don't get it. Like what exactly were you expecting a home schooled person would be like? It's funny! I've had some awkward dates as well and a borderline stalker who wouldn't take NO I'm not interested for an answer! I laugh about it now but at the time it was a little creepy! There is SO much more to that story but you get the picture! I was never scared for my life or anything he was just abscessed with me. Weird. Anyway that's enough interesting facts about me ha ha. Happy Friday!

OHmyGOSH! I was on mock trial too!!! Our case was about a ship sinking and then a cyber bullying case. So many hours spent practicing but seriously some of the best moments of high school! That's too funny. And I had no idea that you were home schooled! That is really cool :)

Chic-fil-a is where it's at!! So fun! And my roommate was on our college mock trial team. I learned a lot about that from her! Very cool :)

My sons were homeschooled and actually graduated college! haha. So many people think homeschooler families are strange but so many of us are very mainstream and sucessful. My son runs a surfing site...the http://www.thesurfboardman.com and my other son works for the Govt.

I love this new series! It's a fun way to learn things about you.

Your mock team sounds super interesting. I would have loved that!

I had no idea frisbee could lead to broken bones!!! I played basketball and volleyball and had a short stint as a cheerleader (but I am not one that calls that a sport). I just love sports and being around them too!

I had no idea that your were homeschooled. I kind of forget how many people were! I went to public school until 8th grade and then did the rest at home. Did you enjoy it? Is homeschooling your oan children important to you?

Chick-Fil-A seems like such a rite of passage! :) And waffle fries are a great perk!

Awkward date stories are my favorite! Keep those coming. :)

I was homeschooled, too! Random fact, I had never been to a Chick-fil-A until I was graduated from college. My husband still can't get over that fact. They're just not as popular in California where I grew up.

Mandy said...

Fun post! I was homeschooled all the way through highschool and did dual enrollment at the local community college during highschool too. Nowadays it seems to be the trendy thing to do but I like to think I did it before it was popular ;)

I love all of these fun facts about you. I would have never guessed that you were home schooled. Not that it really matters but I think ppl have a preconceived idea of home school kids. lol..

Eryn Ivey said...

Stop! I play ultimate frisbee competitively and my beau is on Team USA competing in London this summer!!! This is ensures we would be friends if I actually knew you! Ha!

Meg McIlvaine said...

OH man! I have friends in Cali, and they have either never heard of Chick-fil-A or they are sad they don't have one near them!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Nice! That's exactly what I did. :) #hipsterhomeschooler

Meg McIlvaine said...

Haha thanks!! ;)

Meg McIlvaine said...

You had me at London. Ah!! That is so awesome!

Eryn Ivey said...

Yes!! We are so excited. It is going to be expensive, but trust that God will provide.
