This is such a moving piece of art and animation that I just had to share it with you today. I watched it for the first time yesterday and hit "replay" at least five times. I had to watch it over and over to catch all of the beautiful little details. Glen Keane, who was a Disney animator for over 30 years, created this piece, and every bit of it is drawn by hand. Holy animation, Batman. I am in awe of this man's artistic skills and the way he brought the characters in this short film to life.
You guys know how much I love animated films and the animation process. I am collecting Disney art books, after all. I love that Glen went old school on this. We live in a world of technology overload, and although I think technology is great, I think it's so awesome when someone has the skill to go back to the basics. Just paper and pencil. This probably comes from the fact that I have the soul of an 84 year old woman that loves the way things used to be. :)
The music and the movement in this film take you on such a beautiful journey of these two little lives. I absolutely love it! See the magic for yourself!
If you have 15 minutes, (let's be honest. you do.) you can see some behind the scenes actions and all of the hard work that went into creating this film here. Long live animation.
Tyler and I watched this last week! O'man! Mind Blown! Glen is such a legend and a crazy amazing animator! Fun fact: He's a Jesus lover!
I just love this!
BEST.NEWS. EVER!
me too!! i've watched and listened to it so many more times today. :)
Wow, that's just gorgeous!
uh....WOW. that is one of the most beautiful love stories I've seen - and the animation...just wow. literally floored.
isn't it? i was mesmerized.
my thoughts exactly!!! so beautiful and so magical. :)
That makes this even better!! I love it! I found the video through Andrew Peterson (a singer) and he said "This is a moving example of what Tolkien called “sub-creation”—in essence, using your gift to speak light into the darkness. " I thought that was beautiful!!
