5 THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME | VOL. 1

1 | I am a night owl.
Now you might think this means that I like to stay out super late, but no no no. I like to be home at night and stay up late in the comfort of my own house. I'd like to clarify that just because I am a night owl does not mean I get a lot done at night. Haha! I hit a wall at about 10pm where I can't focus enough to get much done, but I'm also not tired enough to go to sleep. It's a problem, guys.

2 | I cry when I get excited.
Okay, so you may already know this about me, but I get teary eyed a whole lot...especially when I'm excited. And I get excited about a lot of things...friends having babies, anything related to Disney, all things Narnia, a really spectacular song, getting to see long-distance friends, and sunsets all day every day. The list goes on and on. Really, if I'm below a 3 or above a 7 on the emotional scale, I've probably got tears in my eyes. ;)

3 | My 5 year old self wanted to be a nurse.
This dream quickly changed when I got a little older and realized that I get a little queasy at the sight of other peoples' blood. For example, this one time several years ago, my mom had an unfortunate splinter accident and had quite the whopper of a splinter go all the way through her finger. I blacked out. Enough said. Nursing career dreams were over.

4 | Rarely do I ever wear earrings.
I got my ears pierced when I was thirteen, and I wore earrings all the time until basically the end of college. I just decided that they were too much of a nuisance to bother with all the time. They get caught in my hair, sometimes they are heavy, and they irritate my ears. So now I just wear them for special occasions.

5 | Cooking is not one of the things that I love.
I know, I'm southern. Aren't all southern women supposed to love being in the kitchen all day?? Nope. I don't. It's just not my passion or hobby. The idea of "cooking for fun" is just not my thing. I'd rather be outside. That is why I don't write a food blog. Haha!

WHAT'S ONE RANDOM FACT ABOUT YOU?

The night owl thing - ME TOO!! I am never ready for bed at 10. Nope nope nope!

Chelsea said...

I cry when I get excited too! Which can be awkward when you're around people who don't know you all that well haha

I loved this! I cry when I'm excited too! I hate it though so I really try not too cause once I start it's so hard to stop ha ha

Christina Main said...

Loved this.

Amy Hodgdon said...

Oh girl, i am a cry-er too! No occasion is wrong for it! :)

And...no earrings??? that's so funny, they are like the most important jewelry I wear- I can never seem to leave the house without a pair in!

allisonramsing said...

So fun! And I don't love cooking either!

Between 3 and 7! Right there with ya! I love that video! It's the best!

I rarely wear earrings either! If it's something special I will wear some too.

Meg, we can take pictures of people cooking! That can be our thing!

Love all these things (and knew them all ;) I suppose that is best friend privilege) I always up late and you are still up too.... which is two hours more than me. You night owl, you!

Cheers for tears!

Loved reading this! I often walk out the door without earrings too-- not because they bother me but because I'm always in a rush (I should fix that...). But while I myself adore cooking, it's probably not because I'm a woman but because I adore food and am a perfectionist. I can understand why you wouldn't wanna spend a ton of time indoors though when the outdoor photos you take are always so pretty!

When I get really angry, I cry and say how mad I am till I calm down. Oddly enough, saying how mad I am out loud really helps. I love learning new things about people!

I love earrings, i wear them all the time.
Also i love cooking and baking. So, do you eat out a lot?

Kiki said...

I'm pretty sure I've already shared my easy-to-tear-up eyes with you, haha! I get teary-eyed like it's nobody's business (or maybe it's just my natural reaction to stuff?). It's actually something I've tried to fix but I have a feeling it's just a natural (aka forever!) habit of mine. :)

And I also love that there are other people out there that aren't huge fans of earrings! I love necklaces and rings but earrings have never been my jam (and I've never had them pierced, either!).

Leelee said...

I haven't worn earrings in years and I don't miss them at all.

Jenna Griffin said...

so THIS is the post you were referencing the other night! Ha. I didn't know most of these about you! Good thing I didn't send you earrings for the swap! Teehee.

Gilmore Girls is good to watch between the hours of 10 and 12. But beware the black hole of "just one more episode!"

Meg McIlvaine said...

I watched until 11 last night and had to stop!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Yay for crying! HAHA. Glad I'm not alone ;)

Meg McIlvaine said...

Hahahah. Yes!

Meg McIlvaine said...

That is amazing!!!

Meg McIlvaine said...

It's just one less thing for me to remember in the mornings!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Hahaha. That is hilarious. I have to pee any time I get nervous!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Girl, don't fix it. It shows you have feelings and are a real person. :)

Yeah! They just really irritate my hears, which makes them hurt for daysssss. Not worth it. :)

Meg McIlvaine said...

I don't, actually! It's too expensive! So I do cook for myself, but I don't really enjoy it. Haha!

Meg McIlvaine said...

That is great! And totally works.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Thanks! :)

Meg McIlvaine said...

cheers for tears. hahaha. love that.

Meg McIlvaine said...

hooray!! let's do it. :)

Meg McIlvaine said...

So glad I'm not alone! I mean, I do it because it's too expensive to eat out. Haha. I just don't enjoy it.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Haha! One of my best friends is like that. She LOVES her earrings.

Meg McIlvaine said...

:) thanks lady.

Meg McIlvaine said...

So true!!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Hahaha seriously. It has happened to me more times that I can count.

Meg McIlvaine said...

It's just too early! :)

Love, I am a night owl too! That being said, on days that I can sleep until 8 or 9 I have a crazy productive burst as soon as I wake up. I think the foggy brain helps me operate on autopilot and by the time I am fully awake the kitchen is clean, the dishes are done and somehow breakfast is on the table.

Meg McIlvaine said...

I love productive mornings like that!!

allisonramsing said...

Ha ha same!

That is too funny. I'm southern, but I don't like to cook. I can cook, but don't enjoy it. I'm for sure the "bless her heart" to all my friends in this department. I'm so glad that we got to meet this weekend. Maybe you'll convince me to read Harry Potter.

Kasey Moffitt said...

I don't love cooking either, but I want to so bad! I guess it's a learn as you go type thing? Who knows...but I hope that changes!

Amy said...

oh my gosh the explanation of your version of a night owl was cracking me up!! :) // happy tears! :) i love that! // i've noticed the earring thing! i used to NEVER wear earrings, like none all throughout college, but now i wear them daily. i found that the less i wore them the more irritated my ears got, but if i suffered through like 3 days then i was golden! // and i wouldn't say i cook for fun but there is something "fun" (redundant i know) about a delicious recipe being finished ha!

Christina Conrad said...

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this; love your little quirks, Meg! Cooking is, unfortunately, not something I really enjoy. I can do it, and it's been said that I'm good at it, but I much rather be eating it than making it. ;)

Laura Jean said...

LOVE IT! So fun getting to know you better. I love that you cry when you're excited - I do too and people are so unwelcoming of it haha! We understand each other!

Leelee said...

Exactly. And I had trouble with always getting itchy earrings, which meant lotion, which meant even more time that I would rather be sleeping.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Haha me too!
Yessssss, read them! You can be a nerd too ;) Hah!!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Totally!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Hahahah.
That makes sense about the earrings, I just haven't had the patience for it!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Thanks friend :)
Haha. I'm all about the eating and not the making!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Haha! #soulsisters :)

So glad to know you a little bit more! For me, instead of crying, it's more of a I-want-to-pee situation whenever I'm excited or anxious. I hope I don't pee in my wedding dress in the near future. Yikes.
