A BEDROOM MAKEOVER | THE KLACKNERS

A BEDROOM MAKEOVER

You may remember that way back in October (yikes...how embarrassing) I was stressing over paint colors and getting ready to do a mini makeover of my bedroom. The walls had been the same blue for quite some time, and I can't even tell you how many nail holes there were from picture frames. I went through a major collage phase, okay? ;) Everything needed a little sprucing up...nothing that a lot of drywall filler and a couple coats of paint couldn't fix. I went with a grey that helped lighten up the room and made it feel fresh and clean. No new furniture was purchased (except for the desk chair), but I did invest in a new comforter and some decorative pillows. Target and Home Goods for the win. I added a couple of new pieces of artwork, but other than that, I used items I already had! It's amazing how switching up a few things can transform a room.

One of my favorite parts about the room is my stand up desk. I was going to build one for myself, but realized I was able to change the height of my small architect desk. I scooted it under the existing wall shelves, and it fit perfectly! I'm really in love with how everything turned out! The room feels less cluttered, it's cleaner, it's classier, and has a much more relaxing atmosphere than it did before. Hooray for mini makeovers!

DETAILS: Paint - Behr in Dolphin Fin 790C-3 || Comforter + Shams - Target || Decorative Pillows + Rug - Home Goods || Black & White Canvases - Tiny Prints || Reading Chair + Lamps - IKEA || Wool Throw - Scotland || Architect Desk - Target || Desk Chair - World Market || Harry Potter Print - Lovely People || Let Light Shine Canvas - Naptime Diaries

HAVE YOU DONE ANY ROOM MAKEOVERS RECENTLY?

Meg!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

I love all the seating options too :) I wish our bedroom was large enough for a reading chair - I'd probably never leave!

I also love the little Maiedae Mixer accents here and there - so glad to have met you! :)

It looks so beautiful! I love the pop of the pillows, and I noticed the willow tree angel. I absolutely adore Willow Tree! My mom gets them for me for every big event, and I've been picking out ones I love now, too. :)

CUUUUUTE girl, CUUUUUTE! Love it. Simple and lovely. We have that same Ikea chair (in black though because we're lame-os) and I'm so loving yours in green! It's going to be Baby Main's "rocking chair" once he decides to make his grand entrance ;)

What a lovely space, Meg! It looks so bright and cozy! I love how you didn't use white for the walls, but the color is still so fresh without being overpowering!

Ooh, I loooove it! I've been thinking of painting my room for YEARS (it's still a lovely lavender color from middle school, haha) but haven't done it. I actually have a not-so-little stack of frames to hang, too. Yep, I'm definitely slacking in the room re-decorating department!

But your room is definitely inspiring me to get with the program! I love your desk area--especially the hanging shelves, the artwork, the little gallery wall on the side of your desk, and the fun creative space you've got going. Perfect for blogging! :)

p.s. Did you take those b+w photos by your bed? They're so pretty!

Me too me too. I wanted a tall desk chair, but didn't want it to look too "office like" so I went with a bar stool!

Kiki, you should do it! It is AMAZING what a new paint color will do for you and your room. It transforms it into a completely different space! :)

I did take the black and white photos!..during our blog retreat last fall!
