CURRENTLY | VOL. 4

READING | The Maze Runner series. I watched the movie a few months ago and immediately knew I wanted to read the books, so I ordered the entire series. I'm on the second one and read a few pages every chance I get. I love how much more detail is in the books, and I'm excited to read the rest of the series before the next movie is released! I'm also working my way through Shauna Niequist's Cold Tangerines. I love the way that lady writes. It makes me feel as if I'm sitting across the table from her in a cute coffee shop listening to her tell stories of her life.

ANTICIPATING | All the adventures this part of my journey holds. There are plans for camping and hiking, friends and game nights, dreams of seeing more Broadway shows, and ideas swirling around for this little online space.

MISSING | Home. However, I'm not as homesick as I was my first few weeks in Colorado. I think I've moved into the "I can't believe I live here" stage. The bursting-into-tears-in-public stage has subsided for now, which helps me not feel nearly as emotionally unstable or cray cray these days, so that's always nice. ;)

CELEBRATING | Friends and babies. If you know me at all, you know how much I love to celebrate people. One of my friends is having a baby boy in October, and tonight we get to celebrate her and this new adventure for her family. These summer months are also full of birthdays, and it is so fun to shower your friends will love and confetti and birthday cake.

LISTENING | To basically everything. We saw Wicked on Tuesday night, so I've been on a Broadway musical kick. The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack has been played a handful of times this week. It's a classic. Drew Holcomb's "Medicine" album has been playing...mostly I put American Beauty and I've Got You on repeat. :) Hold Back the River by James Bay has also become a favorite to turn up loud and sing along to in the car. What are you listening to these days?

WHAT IS ON YOUR "CURRENTLY" LIST?

I'm currently preparing for finals in July and my move to England in September (two semesters abroad). While doing that I'm trying to fit in as many coffee dates, ice cream evening walks, park adventurous and dinner conversations with friends as possible. Needless to say, currently I'm busy…but it's a good kind of busy ;-)

Just wanted to say: you are awesome and you are doing so great! I did a big move like yours two years ago…went from small town in the South (of Germany) to big city life in the North (of Germany). I was homesick for six months but then it got all better and now I'm really sad about leaving my big city, even though it's just for 10 months. Enjoy every moment of your new life but never feel bad about being homesick. My mom always says "Appreciate feeling sad about leaving a place because it means that you were lucky enough to meet people who are worth missing" ;-)

Kristina, thank you so much for saying that. What your mom says made me tear up a little because it is so true!! I hope your move goes smoothly and that you love your time in England (I'm a little jealous!) Enjoy the time you have with friends before you head off on your next adventure! XOXO.

I love this! I am listening to Broadway tunes like crazy ever since wicked! I am craving more of them!

I read the first book of the Maze Runner series before the movie came out and it really made me unsure of whether or not I even wanted to see the movie. Then I did go see the movie and LOVED IT! But I still don't know whether or not I'd want to continue reading the books (although I've read spoilers online,) but I've never had a series make me feel that way. Usually it's the other way around (love the book, movie just ok). Maybe I should give it another go?

I've been wanting to read the Maze Runner series but haven't had a spare moment to read in a couple months. Hopefully after our move! Did you love Wicked?! I've seen it twice and it's one of my very favorites. :)

I've heard great things about The Maze Runner series, it's on my TBR, but I just started the Game of Thrones Series. Pretty sure I'll be reading that for the rest of the summer! Can't wait to see your adventures!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Yay!! I can't wait to go to more Broadway shows with you, best friend!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Ha! See, I saw the movies first, and in this case, I'm glad I saw it before reading the book because it was quite different in some ways. I say give the books another go! I'm the kind of person that has to finish a series because I need to know how it ends!

Meg McIlvaine said...

You should!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Yes! And tell me if you like it!
OMG I LOVED Wicked. I would totally go see it again! I'd listened the soundtrack multiple times but still didn't know the full story and I loved getting to see where the songs went in context with the play.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Ha! Yes, those may take you some time! I've never read them, but I think there are several? For sure keep The Maze Runner on your list!

I love how the songs can stand on their own in a lot of ways, but are made so much richer once you know all the tiny details!

Meg McIlvaine said...

Yes!!

I am so glad you're not feeling as homesick! Ooh, I might have to look into that book series. I've been needing something good to read.

Meg McIlvaine said...

Do it! Have you seen the movie?

Rachel said...

No, I haven't. I think I want to read the books first:) I almost never stick with a book if I've already seen the movie ha ha.
