THE CEREMONY

How did I let so much time slip between wedding posts? My bad. It's been a few months since I shared our wedding party with you, and it's high time to move on to our ceremony! So while you're waiting in line to do all of your Black Friday shopping, here's a quick read about magical wedding goodness.

If you remember, we had a very snowy first look and it was freezing outside -- I don't think I thawed out until the reception. Shane and I drove together from our first look to the venue, and I think that was one of my favorite little moments together on our wedding day. It was just 10 minutes where we got to be alone and talk and be excited together about getting married in just a little bit.

About three days before our wedding, we made the decision to move our ceremony indoors because the weekend weather looked iffy, and I'm so glad we did. I think the indoor space still came together really nicely, and to be honest, I didn't have much time the day of to think about it. I was too busy marrying my best friend!

When it was time for the ceremony to begin, the wedding party, my dad, and I all lined up outside under our umbrellas, shivering in the cold. I remember being so excited and the good kind of nervous as I watched our wedding party walk into the building one by one. And then it was my turn! I just kept telling myself to look at Shane and not to worry about all the eyes on me, and I'm so glad I did. Shane's face watching me walk down the aisle is one of my favorite things. We both teared up but didn't ever lose it, which was fine by me because I hate crying in public.😂

Our ceremony was very meaningful to us as it was officiated by our pre-marital mentor and friend, we were served communion together, we had our families pray over us, and we had our best friends and family stand up with us as we promised the rest of our lives to each other. We chose to do traditional vows because some tradition is important to us. I know it's the thing to write your own vows these days, but we really didn't want to do that, or at least publicly. Instead, we wrote letters to each other saying all of the things we wanted to say, and that stays between us, which is the way we like it.

It's crazy looking back to think about how much time and preparation goes into your wedding day, but the ceremony itself is over in the blink of an eye. I guess it's a good reminder that when you're planning for your wedding, you're not only planning for a day, but for a lifetime.
